Who we are…

We are a pair of moms who are extremely passionate about Early Childhood education. This site was started as a result of spending most of our waking hours reading to and teaching our children at home, reading books on child development, developing our home preschool curriculum, as well as countless hours on the internet surfing for free resources and ideas on home learning.

Why this website?

We wanted a space that we can share our knowledge and empower other parents to teach their child in their preschool years. We hope that this website will be a source of inspiration for home learning, and an early childhood learning resource where parents can refer to.

Why do home-learning?

Studies have shown that the preschool years are the most crucial for the child's intellectual development, as the child's brain grows the most rapidly between the ages of 3 – 5 years of age. Where they are the most critical period where the verbal and motor skills necessary to learning are being mastered.

Furthermore, a stimulating home learning environment for the child from 2 – 6 years of age is linked to long-term gains in children’s development. One to one learning is also more effective than group instruction, as specific learning activities can be catered to individual learning styles of the child.

Afterall, we believe that the child's learning doesn't start when they enter kindergarten. Rather learning begins at home, with parents as their children's first and the most important influences in the early learning years of the child.

What is our curriculum like?

Our home curriculum weaves many elements that are crucial to a quality early childhood program:

  • suitable for all learning style preferences (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic)
  • covers many areas of multiple intelligence
  • addresses aspects of a child's developmental domains (Cognitive, physical, social and emotional)
  • encompasses key subject areas of literacy, math, science, social studies, music and art
  • caters to the interests of children, as it helps them to connect what they know and learn new information into meaningful context
  • covers the two areas which will be most effective if taught, reinforced and modeled at home; character development and habits training

Additionally, the curriculum uses a literature-based approach where children can make the emotional connections through their active engagement of concepts introduced through selected books. These connections made will facilitate the child's attention span, memory, processing skills, and understanding.

We are also firm believers of the learning through play approach. Play is central to our curriculum, as it is essential for optimal development and effective learning in young children.

So what makes us different or superior to other early childhood programs?

The key ingredient and main differentiating factor of our program is YOU, the parent.  We truly believe that every parent can be the best teacher for their child, given the right resources and knowledge. Besides, home learning is one of the best ways to spend quality time bonding with your child. Regardless of whether you are a stay at home parent or a working parent, our home learning activities can easily be implemented in short 15-30 minutes intervals, managed within your own time and extremely apt for most children with short attention spans.

We hope that our site will help you get started on your home learning program, and be the key accompaniment for your home learning journey with your child. Do contact us if there are any specific areas that you want us to write about, or on any queries that you might have. We will try our utmost to help you.
